2 more jurors were selected on Tuesday in the murder trial of a Sterling man. 33-year old Nicholas Sheley is charged with the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling.
So far, 6 jurors have been picked this week for the trial, 3 men and 3 women. 6 more need to be selected along with 3 alternates.
Sheley has been charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder along with home invasion and residential burglary. The incident took place in the summer of 2008 in Whiteside County.
1 of the motives behind the killing of Reed was that Sheley needed money fo buy crack cocaine.
The Sterling man is currently in prison on a life sentence for the murder of a Galesburg man in 2008. Sheley has also been charged with 7 other murders during the summer of 2008 which took place in Rock Falls and Southern Illinois.
Jury selection will resume on Thursday. Opening statements are expected next Monday in Whiteside County court.
