Jury selection continues in Sheley murder trial

2 more jurors were selected on Tuesday in the murder trial of a Sterling man. 33-year old Nicholas Sheley is charged with the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling.

So far, 6 jurors have been picked this week for the trial, 3 men and 3 women. 6 more need to be selected along with 3 alternates.

Sheley has been charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder along with home invasion and residential burglary. The incident took place in the summer of 2008 in Whiteside County.

1 of the motives behind the killing of Reed was that Sheley needed money fo buy crack cocaine.

The Sterling man is currently in prison on a life sentence for the murder of a Galesburg man in 2008. Sheley has also been charged with 7 other murders during the summer of 2008 which took place in Rock Falls and Southern Illinois.
