State regulators are cracking down on retailers that sell colored contact lenses without a license. They say a store in Central Illinois turned over 41 boxes and 54 single containers of non-prescription colored contact lenses. They say the town is too small to name right now because of the ongoing investigation. Investigators were tipped off by a school nurse after a student sustained an eye injury from wearing contact lenses purchased at the store. Colored lenses purchased without proper exams and fittings put thousands of Illinois customers at risk of scratches, infections and potential blindness.
