School officials in Oregon are looking at ways to have climate control in all of their buildings.
Superintendent Tom Mahoney said that some classrooms in August were over 100 degrees when school began. Oregon High School along with the Junior High building in Mt. Morris and Jefferson Grade School do not have air conditioning. The other 2 buildings in the district do have "AC".
Classes were dismissed early on several days in August due to the heat.
Mahoney said that they are going to look at the cost of putting air conditioning in the other buildings in the near future.
The board heard the annual audit report this week. The district is still looking at a deficit of around $360,000 this fiscal year. Mahoney said that revenue is down by $800,000 which includes state aid, taxes, and grant money.
The district did receive a $10,000 check from Monsanto. The money will be used for teacher training along with the purchase of solar panels.
Employment in the district included Doug Donahue as the Junior High School Boys Basketball Coach.
