A forensic scientist has determined that the bones found in a Rockford park this week do not belong to a man missing since 2009.
The human remains were found along the Rock River at the Rocky Glen Off-Highway Vehicle Park.
Winnebago County officials were invesrigating to see if the bones belonged to Mark Miller of Rockford. A wallet that belonged to Miller was found in the area of the park this week.
Authorities compared the skull and teeth to Miller's dental records. There was no match.
The identity of the bones and if the person was a man or woman still remains unknown at this time.
The 48-year old Miller was last seen March 13th of 2009 leaving work at the Clock Tower Inn. Police found his car abandoned.
