Village officials in Hillcrest are moving forward in an attempt to get a portion of the community with sanitary sewer in the future.
The village plans to apply for a $400,000 federal grant for the project. The sanitary sewer would be installed in a 3 block area. The work will be done in the 300 and 400 blocks of Scott Avenue, the 200 and 300 blocks of Jeffery Avenue, and on Hillcrest Avenue in the 300 and 400 blocks.
This Sunday along with October 20th and 21st, village officials will be going door to door at homes in these areas to complete an income survey. The village needs this information to be eligible for the grant money.
Residents in Hillcrest will see their water service go up when they receive their next bill. The average increase at a home would be around $8 a month. The $100 deposit to begin water service has also been removed from the ordinance.
If you believe your water bill is too high, the village asks for a 30-day period to determine if their is a problem at your home.
The board is also asking teens not to skate board at the Village Hall Building. Signs will be posted in the near future.
