A host committee has been established in DeKalb dealing with the IHSA State Football Championships that will be coming to NIU in 2013.
Huskie Stadium will serve as the site for the state football finals in odd-numbered years starting in 2013 through 2021. The even-numbered years will still be hosted by the University of Illinois at Memorial Stadium.
The Chairman of the committee is Tom Matya of DeKalb. He said the group plans to work with area communities involving this project which includes Rochelle.
Matya said that a fund raising campaign will be part of the project. The group also plans to attend this year's State Finals in Champaign to see how the weekend is put together.
Matya said that NIU in DeKalb is a great place to have the 8 championship games due to it's location.
