City officials in Rochelle have announced that 2 roads will be closed for traffic starting next week due to construction work.
The 1st project involves 20th street, south of 10th Avenue. This will be closed for traffic due to drainage improvements, culvert replacements, and other restoration work on Wednesday.
The project should be completed by next Friday, October 12th.
The west entrance to Cooper Park will be open during the construction on 20th Street.
The 2nd project involves Steward Road. It will be closed just north of the Ogle-Lee County line and adjacent to the south edge of the Illinois River Energy plant starting on Tuesday. The work will not be completed until November 7th.
The construction will provide the city of Rochelle's railroad access to the new Coated Sand Solutions plant on Steward Road. A signalized, gated crossing will be installed shortly after the rail crossing is completed.
IRE plant traffic will enter and exit north of the closure. Coated Sand Solutions traffic will enter and exit south of the work.
The detour will be Steward road to Illinois 251 south to Perry Road for traffic in the area.
