The West Nile Virus has claimed the lives of six people in Illinois this year. Health officials continue to urge people to protect themselves from mosquitoes that transmit the virus to humans. They say wear insect repellent with Deet or oil of eucalyptus and wear long sleeves and pants when outside between dusk and dawn. One-hundred-79 people have been diagnosed with the virus. That's five times more than the 34 who were diagnosed in 2011.
The latest victim is a Chicago fireman who died this week.
