3 Aurora residents return to court on retail theft case in Rochelle (Updated)

3 Aurora residents were back in Ogle County court today for arraignments in connection with retail thefts which took place last month at Walmart in Rochelle.

32-year old Jesus Garcia, his sister, 27-year old Diana Garcia, and 20-year old Melisa Lazcano have been arrested on 2 counts of the felony offense of retail theft.

Rochelle police say that the 3 were allegedly involved with a theft at Walmart back on September 12th. Stolen from the store were DVD's, video games, laptops, and a home security system.

They were arrested leaving the store on September 26th with several thousand dollars of merchandise they were trying to steal.

Police and store officials had pictures of the 3 suspects along with the car they were driving during the 1st retail theft. Both incidents took place during the early morning hours.

In court today, bond remains at $100,000 for Jesus Garcia while the judge reduced the bonds for Diana Garcia and Lazcano from $75,000 to $30,000. All 3 remain in jail in lieu of bond in Oregon.

They were all given preliminary hearings dates of October 17th in Ogle County Court. At that time, they will plead guilty or innocent to the felony offense.

Police say that both Garcia's and Lazcano were also allegedly involved in multiple retail thefts which took place in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Charges are pending in other area counties.
