Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride of the Illinois Surpeme Court announced Monday that 7 counties in the 2nd Judicial District will be added to the pilot program to allow filing of the trial record on appeal electronically.
The counties include Lee, Boone, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Stephenson, and Winnebago.
Ogle and DuPage Counties were the 1st to be involved in this program in the 2nd Judicial District.
The process allows the courts and circuit clerks to bring digital technology and cost savings to the Illinois court system.
The program for the counties announced yesterday is expected to begin in January of next year.
