A lumber company based in Dubuque, Iowa plans ot open a new business in Byron.
Spahn and Rose recently purchase the property at 703 North Walnut Street at a cost of $365,000. A lumber company had once been located in the area before it closed due to the economy.
Spahn and Rose officials say that they have been looking at opening a lumber yard in the Ogle or Winnebago county area for some time.
The Byron lumber yard should be open for area residents for retail sales in December. Full service at the store is expected by next spring.
Spahn and Rose has already hired a manager for the lumber yard. They plan to have 4 to 5 other employees when they open.
Spahn and Rose has 26 lumber yards which they operate. 21 are located in Iowa.
