HOPE gets financial help from local store

State funding problems has caused many domestic violence organizations in Illinois to reduce their staff along with programs they offer.

HOPE of Ogle County has been very fortunate during the past 2 1/2 years with the opening of the HOPE Chest store on Lincoln Highway in Rochelle. The store has numerous items which have been donated from area residents from clothing for all ages to household items and decorations.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", HOPE Executive Director Ruth Carter talked about the funds used from the store. She said they were able to keep the programs for area residents along with staff due to the funds from HOPE Chest.

The manager of HOPE Chest is Tammy Jennings. She always reminds people during their purchase on what the money will be used for in reference to helping domestic violence victims.

HOPE of Ogle County will be hosting "With A Purpose" event this evening starting at 5:30 at the Rochelle Golf and Steak House. More than 20 local artists have created items that will be sold during a silent and live auction. The donation is only 20 dollars to attend which includes a dinner.

Once again, all proceeds tonight goes back into the HOPE program to help area residents involved in domestic violent situations.
