Retail theft suspects appear in court

3 Aurora residents appeared in Ogle County court for the 1st time yesterday after being arrested following a theft at the Walmart store in Rochelle early Wednesday morning.

32-year old Jesus Garcia, his sister, 27-year old Diana Garcia, along with 20-year old Melisa Lazcano have been arrested on 2 counts of the felony offense of retail theft.

Local Police say that the Garcia's along with Lazcano were allegedly involved with a retail theft incident at Walmart back on September 12th. Stolen from the business were DVD's, video games, laptops, and a home security system.

They were arrested leaving the store on Wednesday with several thousand dollars of merchandise they were trying to steal.

Police and store officials had pictures of the 3 suspects along with the car they were driving during the 1st retail theft at Walmart.

Bond was set at $100,000 for Jesus Garcia yesterday as he has a prior burglary conviction. Diana Garcia and Lazcano had their bond set at $75,000. All remain in jail in lieu of bond and will return to court next Friday, October 5th, for an arraignment.

Police say that the 3 were allegedly involved in multiple retail thefts which took place in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Charges are expected in several other area counties.
