The audit report for fiscal year 2011-12 along with the Wiscold Road project topped the discussion last night by city officials in Rochelle.
Fred Lantz from Sikich, LLP gave the annual audit report for the city. He talked about the current assets for Rochelle which total several milliondollars.
He also commented on how the city would not see a situation like the community in Dixon in which millions of dollar were taken over a period of time from an employee. He said the form of government in Rochelle with a city manager would prevent this problem in the future.
The council approved isolation breakers for the water wells and Reclamation Plant at a cost of $76,800. They also heard a Conservation and Recycling Commitee report from Diane McNeilly. She said that around 60 percent of homes in Rochelle are involved with the recycling program.
Engineering costs were approved for improvements on Wiscold Drive.
The project is expected to cost 1.8 million dollars with the City's bill at $900,000.
Councilman Dan McDermott also received the Service Award from the city for his 32 years as a paid-on call firemen in Rochelle. He plans to retire from the department.
