Rochelle police continue to investigate an arson incident early Saturday morning which they believe is related to a shooting early Friday morning on the south side of town.
A short time after 4:30, someone threw a flamable object through a 1st story bedroom window at 211 Avenue "H" in Rochelle. Their was a small fire in the home and minor damage said Fire Chief Brian Johnson. The residents at the home had put most of the fire out before emergency personnel arrived.
Local police also continue to investigate shots being fired on the south side of the Hub City early Friday morning near the area of Avenue "H" and South 2nd Street. No one suffered any injuries.
Several calls came into the police station a short time after 2:15. A woman also told police that she was driving her car on Avenue "H" when it was struck by bullets.
A home and trailer were also struck by gun fire in the area.
Witnesses told police that 4 individuals wearing hooded sweatshirts were seen in the area at the time of the shooting. They left at a high rate of speed in a purple car and a silver vehicle.
Evidence was recovered at the scene by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Technicians.
Police Chief Eric Higby believes that the shooting was most likely gang related.
No arrest has been made at this time in connection with the fire or shooting.
