On-line bidding for horses owned by former Dixon City Comptroller Rita Crundwell continues today.
The U.S Marshalls Service will be selling 93 horses owned by Crundwell.
The auction on professionalauction.com closes today for 46 horses and on Tuesday involving 47 other horses.
A live auction to sell the remaining other horses, which totals over 300, will take place in Dixon on September 23rd and 24th.
The 59-year old Crundwell was 1 of the leading breaders of quarter horses in the U.S. prior to her arrest. She was charged with federal wire fraud after she allegedly obtained more than 53 million dollars from the city of Dixon since 1990.
She used the money to finance her horse business and lavish lifestyle. This included 2 homes, vehicles, and a 2 million dollar motor home.
If Crundwell is found guilty, the proceeds from the sale of her horses and other items would be applied toward restitution for the city of Dixon.
