2012 was another successful year for the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival in Rochelle. Several thousand area residents attended the 3-day festival in the Hub City as it was the 15th annual event.
Festival President Lisa Chrisco said that the organization was satisfied with the weekend. They believe attendance was up again due to the festival being moved to the 3rd weekend in August.
Chrisco said that there will most likely be a 16th festival in 2013.
The 16th Annual Fly-In, Drive-In event also took place at the Municipal Airport. City officials along with the Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce and Business Development sponsored the activities at Koritz Field.
Airport Manager Mark Delhotal said about 50 planes flew into Rochelle on Sunday with over 1,000 area residents attending the event. The number of planes were down due to another air show taking place in Poplar Grove.
Delhotal said they plan to have the Fly-In, Drive-In event next summer at the airport.
