Ogle County crash, teen is serious condition

A Machesney Park teen remains in serious condition at a Rockford hospital following a car vs mack truck head-on collision Tuesday afternoon on Route 38, just east of Creston.

18-year old Dylan Savage suffered head and arm injuries from the crash as he was transported by helicopter from the scene to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Reports indicate that Savage's van was west bound on Route 38 when the accident occurred with the east bound mack truck which was transporting recycling items. The driver of the truck, 65-year old William West of Malta, received treatment for minor injuries at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb and then released.

Police say that West was unable to avoid the collision due to a guardrail and bridge on Route 38.

DeKalb County Sheriff's Police ticketed Savage for improper lane usage.
