Illinois' state officials report that the period from January to July this year was the warmest in state weather history. State Climatologist Jim Angel with the State Water Survey says the statewide average temperature for the first seven months of the year was just under 57 degrees. That tops the previous record of just over 56 degrees set in 1921. Angel says temperatures will have to remain high for 2012 to set the record for the warmest year.
