A Rochelle man escaped serious injuries late last night after the car he was driving struck a telephone pole in an alcohol related crash.
45-year old Gerald Clayton was charged with DUI along with improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and having no insurance.
The accident occurred a short time before midinight in the 300 block of South Main street in Rochelle.
Local police say that Clayton's car hit the curb before striking the telephone phone in the parkway. The pole then fell onto the street.
Clayton refused medical treatment at the scene. He will appear in court on the charges at a later date.
