Gredco Director Jason Anderson of Rochelle leaves for Japan today as he hopes to bring new businesses to the Hub City in the future.
The trip came about when Anderson was invited to Japan by the former president of Nippon Sharyo. The Japanese rail car company began operations in Rochelle earlier this year and plan to hire 300 employees.
Anderson said that this is a big trip for Rochelle involving possible future industries for the Hub City.
He plans to talk with 20 to 25 companies while on the trip.
Anderson also hopes to see several plants and how they operate.
He mentioned that there are a few key features about Rochelle that will be stressed in his presentation to the Japanese Officials. They include location and city features.
Anderson said that it could take as long as a couple of years involving the impact on this trip for the city.
He plans to be back in the United States on August 7th.
The city budgeted for the Japan trip which is expected to cost less than $3,000. Gredco is also hosting a reception for the companies who will hear the presentation about Rochelle.
Anderson worked with the NIU Japanese Cultural Studies group in putting together the visual presentation which will be in Japanese.
