Ogle County Sheriff's Police have arrested an Oregon man involving a scam that totaled around $8,000 from a rural Rochelle resident.
54-year old John Anderson has been charged with the felony offense of Theft over $500.
Sheriff's Police began their investigation on Monday into the theft of money by deception. Authorities say that Anderson was obtaining money by saying he was working with the judicial system to make payments on a state and county licensing issue.
Around $8,000 was obtained from the victim during a 5 month period.
Anderson has been released from jail on a recognizance bond. He was given a court date of July 20th in Oregon.
