The exact cause of death for a Chicago man whose body was found in the Rock River in Oregon Thursday will not be known for several weeks.
37-year old Reyes Perez was fishing with family and friends off a small rock island above the dam at Oregon Park East on July 4th when he was swept downstream about 30 feet. He was wearing high waders in the river.
Perez's body was found the next morning about 50 feet south of the dam.
An autopsy was conducted on Friday. The exact cause of death will not be known for several weeks until the results come back from the toxicology report.
Several area diving teams, which included Rochelle, responded to the scene last Wednesday near the dam at Oregon Park East.
