The body of a Chicago man, who went under the water Wednesday Morning, was recovered at around 10am Thursday by members of the Oregon Fire Department near the area where he was last seen. 37 year old Reyes Perez was fishing with family and friends below the dam in the Rock River at Oregon when he stepped off a small island and was swept away by the current.. Several departments were involved in a rescue attempt that turned into a recovery operation Wednesday afternoon. Police believe that Perez stepped too far into the water and that the calf-high waders he was wearing filled up and took him under preventing the drowning victim from coming back to the surface. Reyes' body was turned over to the Ogle County coroner.
