The condition of Illinois crops continue to deteriorate thanks to last week's excessive heat. State Crop Statistician Mark Schleuster says 46-percent of corn is already silking and seven percent is in the dough stage. The average height of corn is 20-inches above last year's at this time, at 64-inches. The five year average is 49-inches. Thirty-three-percent of the crop is rated poor. Soybeans are also coming up ahead of schedule. Twenty-five-percent are blooming and seem to be surviving well despite the weather.
