A former Sycamore man accused of killing a 7-year old girl in 1957 will have a new attorney represent him during his trial.
Public Defender Regina Harris has announced her resignation. She plans to pursue a private practise in law.
Harris was the attorney for 72-year old Jack McCullough of Seattle, Washington who has been charged in the murder of 7-year old Maria Ridulph of Sycamore. The girl's remains were found in rural Jo Daviess County 5 months after she went missing.
McCullough has been charged with murder, kidnapping, and abduction of a child. A jury trial has been set for September 10th.
Judge Robbin Stuckert has appointed Robert Carlson as acting public defender in DeKalb County.
McCullough remains in jail in lieu of a 3 million dollar bond.
