Following a special meeting Wednesday, the Rochelle Township High School Board of Education approved a new 3-year contract with the teacher's union.
The deal begins July 1st as more than 60 teachers belong to the union. The staff approved the contract on June 20th.
Under the agreement, the base salary stays the same for the next school year. There is a half percent pay increase in the 2nd year of the contract and 1 percent hike in the 3rd year. The current base salary at RTHS is $36,522 a year.
Superintendent Jamie Craven said that money and benefits were the key issues during the negotiations.
He said that there were a few language changes in the new agreement.
Negotiations began late May between bargaining teams. The teachers are currently working under a 1-year contract that terminates at the end of this month.
