The possibility of new Tax Increment Financing Districts along with an increase in ambulance fees topped the discussion last night by city officials in Rochelle.
The Council received an update report on the possibility of "TIF" districts on the north and south sides of the community along with the downtown area to bring in new businesses. The city is eligible to have this type of district in the future. Public hearings will take place before any final decisions are made.
A master plan was approved for RMU dealing with their water and sanitary sewer. There was also a change in the waste collection agreement as RRD Holding Company out of Rockford is taking over for Rochelle Disposal Services. The city had a 30-year agreement with Rochelle Waste Disposal which began in 1995.
Ambulance fees will be going up July 1st for area residents. The hike will be just under 5 percent.
The council took no action on changes in the ordinance dealing with future growth. The issue dealt with shared use paths, streets, along with final plats and engineering. The changes were sent back to a committee for further work on the proposal.
