Some Illinois smokers may be surprised at the register when they go to buy a pack of cigarettes. That's because they'll have to dish out an extra dollar. Governor Quinn approved the additional tax a few weeks ago as part of the plan to reform the state's Medicaid system. The idea is to bring in an additional 700-million dollars in revenue, plus Quinn says it will force some people to quit smoking and lead healthier lives.
