A spokesperson for Governor Quinn says closing state facilities is a vital part of getting the state out of the red. Kelly Kraft, with the Governor's Office of Management and Budget, says Quinn made the decision after careful consideration and extensive deliberation. Tamms Supermax Prison, Dwight Correctional Center for Women, and the Illinois Youth Center in Murphysboro are among those that will close on August 31st. The move is expected to save about 62-million dollars.
