Park officials in Rochelle expect to see a Master Plan for renovation work that is scheduled to begin later this year at both Atwood and Cooper parks by the end of this week.
Executive Director Eric Christensen hopes that some construction work can begin this fall at both parks. The project includes a new restroom, upgrade on the equipment, and walking paths.
In a 3-2 vote last night, the board decided to purchase a 14 passenger van at a cost of just over $24,000. Voting against the purchase were Commissioners Bud Norcross and Christa Seebach.
Contracts were terminated for the AYSO program, the Rochelle Aguilas Baseball Team and the Rochelle Slow Pitch Softball Association. The agreements dated back to 1995. Christensen said that the park district wants these groups to use their facilities in the future.
The park district also needs a new contract with the Rochelle Junior Tackle Football program.
The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District also has a new home for their monthly meeting. They will now gather in the Councill Chambers at the Rochelle City Hall Bullding.
