Property Taxes for Ogle County

Property owners in Ogle County are reminded that the 1st installment on their tax bill is due today.

Ogle County Treasurer John Coffman said that over 29,000 property tax bills were mailed by his office this spring. They expect to collect over 116 million dollars this year, an increase of 1.5 million dollars from 2011.

Coffman said that the increase came from farm land, the Byron Nuclear power plant, along with new construction involving industries in Rochelle.

The assessment of farm land increased by around 10 percent.

Area residents can pay their property tax bill at the Ogle County Treasurer's office in Oregon, at any financial institution, or by mail.

They can also use the state's E-Pay program.

The 2nd installment is due on September 7th.
