Over 100 area business representatives along with city officials attended a dinner last night in the Hub City hosted by the Greater Rochelle Economic Development Corporation.
The theme behind the evening was all of the economic development accomplishments during the past 10 years for the community despite a downturn in the U.S. economy.
Gredco Director Jason Anderson said that the city has attracted 1.2 billion dollars in capital investment and created over 1200 jobs in the past 10 years. There has also been over 3.5 million square foot of commercial and industrial space during the decade.
Anderson also believes that the city will continue to see this type of economic growth in the future.
12 local industries received the "Excellence in Development Award" last night for their accomplishments in the past several years.
Anderson said that the remainder of 2012 should be strong for the city. This includes a visit to Japan for the Gredco Director.
