Kaneland High School will become the 8th school in the new Interstate 8 Conference that begins in the 2019-20 school year.
School officials have approved the membership into the new conference. The agreement is only for 1 year.
The other schools in the conference include Rochelle, Sycamore, Morris, LaSalle-Peru, Ottawa, Plano, and Sandwich.
Under the 1-year agreement, Kaneland will compete in all athletic and non-athletic events and for conference titles. They will not be able to vote on any membership decisions for the I-8 Conference.
Kaneland had also considered moving to the NIC-10 Conference.
Former DeKalb boys head basketball coach Dave Rohlman has also been named the new athletic director at Kaneland High School. He replaces Peter Goff who has been named the new athletic director at DeKalb High School.
