The Nashville Waffle House attack by a man from central Illinois is raising new questions about the state's gun laws. Under existing state law, the accused shooter's confiscated guns were given by police to his father.
The father returned them to Travis Reinking before the attack that left four dead.
Chicago's Mayor Emanuel says the state needs better gun laws and not just improvements in mental health treatment, though that is also important in some cases. Emanuel is pushing for an override of Governor Rauner's veto of a bill requiring gun dealers to have a state license.
