Rochelle city council scheduled to meet tonight

The rezoning of property on the south side of town along with a building in the downtown area, a power purchase agreement with Rochelle Energy LLC, and RMU late fee charges tops the agenda tonight for city officials in Rochelle.

The council meeting begins at 7.

The first rezoning proposal is for 48 acres of land along 300 Steward Road, just east of the Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores.

The second rezoning request is the building at 501 West 6th Avenue. There are currently 6 businesses in the building.

The Rochelle Energy LLC agreement with the city involves renewable energy in landfill gas. The proposal would to extend the deal to August of 2027. At the present time, it ends in August of 2022.

The RMU late fees would be reduced from 5% to 3%. By reducing the late fees by 2%, it would save RMU customers around $19,000 in one month.

An ordinance pertaining to street performances and a liquor license for a new pizza business will also be talked about.

Individuals would be allowed to perform at the gazebo, the front lawn of the RMU office, and at Page Park between 10am and 10pm. An annual $10 fee and permit will be required of all street performers.

Rosatis Pizza plans to open at 1233 Caron Road near Walmart.

Tonight's meeting at City Hall is open to the public.
