Rockford police continue to investigate bus shooting in which 3 people were killed (Update)

Rockford Police continue to investigate a shooting that left 3 people dead on a private charter bus early Saturday morning.

The shooter, who was also on the bus, remains at large as he used an assault rifle to kill the 3 people.

Area police are looking for 22-year old Raheem King of Rockford who is wanted on 4 counts of first-degree murder. Authorities say that King is believed to still be in possession of the assault rifle and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting took place while the charter bus was traveling in the area of Auburn Street and North Johnson Avenue in Rockford. Shortly after the shooting, passengers on the bus fled the area on foot.

The bus driver drove more than a mile after the incident before he called 911 and stopped at a gas station.

Autopsies on the 3 male bodies are scheduled for today.

A motive behind the shooting has not been announced by police at this time.
