City and village officials around the state remain concerned right now that a budget will not be approved by lawmakers this year.
Governor Bruce Rauner introduced his budget this week that had extensive change in the public pension systems and cuts to employee health care. He also want schools to pay more of their teacher's pensions and cut retiree health care.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said that communities have a lot to worry about. He said the state continues to cut local income tax funds.
Rauner said that a tax cut should be the number one priority for lawmakers in Illinois.
Fiegenschuh hopes some reforms will take place later this year when it comes to the new budget. He said cities are having a problem with unfunded mandates from the state.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Good Time Oldies 1060 and rebroadcast Sunday morning at 7 on WRHL and 6:30 on The Coyote.
Next week's guest will be Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson.
