Rochelle elementary district looks to replace windows at 2 schools

Bond options to pay for window replacements for 2 schools this summer and the hiring of a new coordinator topped the discussion last night for the Rochelle elementary board.

Superintendent Todd Prusator said they are looking at 2 bond options for the district dealing with the 1 million dollars window replacement project at Central and May Schools.

The district will go through the same process next year at this time for Tilton and the Middle School window replacement project.

The board is considering leasing 2 more buses for the district rather than purchasing the vehicles.

They are also looking at hiring an English, Language, and Arts coordinator for the next school year. The individual would monitor the staff and children to make sure they receive the proper instructions.

The board heard a presentation last night from Central School dealing with their dual language program. This is the first year in the district for students learning to speak Spanish at the kindergarten level.

School officials met in executive session as the discussion included employees in the district. No action was taken.
