Construction remains on schedule for late May to early June for a new truck stop in Rochelle.
The council last night approved the final plat for Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores which will be located on the south side of Rochelle near the intersection of Illinois 251 South and Steward Road. The complex is scheduled to be open in December or the first part of 2019.
The Lee Ogle enterprise zone is looking at adding 19 acres of land for Liberty Village of Rochelle, a nursing and rehabilitation care center off Flagg Road. The proposal also includes 4 acres of property involving a self-storage business in Dixon. City officials had no objection to the projects.
The council approved an increase for fees dealing with subdivision and zoning applications. They will now range from $1,000 to $10,000 based on the complexity of the project.
The city is also looking at a different rate structure of the utility tax. The current tax expires on April 30th.
Engineer work for the water main replacement project on Turkington Terrace and McConaughy Avenue totals $46,400.
Jeff Leininger was sworn in yesterday evening as the new Deputy Chief for the police department.
The Rochelle city council will meet in special session this evening at 6 to talk about strategic planning for the future. They will also gather on Thursday night to discuss the same issue.
Absent from last night's meeting was Mayor Chet Olson.
