Just three years after the state introduced new math and reading exams for elementary schools, there are plans to change those tests again.
The state Board of Education has plans to scrap the so-called PARCC exams, which had generated widespread opposition from teachers, parents and administrators because of the long hours devoted to preparation and test-taking.
The state board is now seeking bids for a new computer-based test that would provide test scores more quickly. In the meantime, the PARCC tests will be given for at least one more year.
