Jury trial date set for Oregon man in fatal boating accident

A jury trial date has been set for April 23rd for an Oregon man in the death of a Rockford woman following a boating accident in June of 2016 on the Rock River.

47-year old Marc Mongan has been charged with 3 counts of reckless homicide and reckless conduct along with 1 count of driving while under the influence of alcohol. All are felony charges.

Killed in the crash was 31-year old Megan Wells of Rockford. Mongan's boat struck a pontoon boat which Wells was on as she was thrown into the Rock River following impact.

The final pre-trial conference in the case is scheduled for April 5th in Ogle County court.

The trial had originally been scheduled to begin next Wednesday, February 14th.

A special prosecutor was appointed in the case last September.
