Japanese companies are still looking at Rochelle

City officials in Rochelle say they would not be surprised if another Japanese company comes to Rochelle some time in 2018.

Last September, Gredco Director Jason Anderson was part of Governor Bruce Rauner's delegation that spoke to businesses in Japan.

In November, the city hosted a Japanese group as they toured Rochelle.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", Anderson said he would not be surprised if another Japanese company came to the Hub City this year.He said he has been talking with 1 company for nearly a year. Anderson met with representatives from the business while on his trip to Japan and have kept in contact since then.

Nippon Sharyo was the first major Japanese business to begin operations in Rochelle in 2012. The layoff of workers at the plant has many city officials concerned about their future. This includes Anderson. He said there are talks behind the scene involving the future of the company in Rochelle.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Good Time Oldies 1060 and rebroadcast Sunday morning at 7 on WRHL and 6:30 on The Coyote.

Next week's guest will be RMU Water and Water Reclamation Superintendent Adam Lanning.
