Ogle County Sheriff's Police plan to use their drone in 2018

The Ogle County Sheriff's Department expects to be using their drone more often in 2018 during investigations and emergency situations.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", Sheriff Brian VamVickle talked about who will be using the drone. 4 people have been trained in his department along with several fire departments in the area.

VanVickle said that the drove will have 2 cameras. 1 will be able to determine heat in an area if they are looking for a person.

VanVickle said that the drone is good for 38 minutes of flight time before you have to change batteries. It will land were it took off.

It will be able to fly in winds up to 40 miles per hour. You can also connect a cable to the controller to view the area on a TV screen.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Good Time Oldies 1060 and rebroadcast Sunday morning at 7 on WRHL and 6:30 on The Coyote.

Next week's guest will be Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson.
