A truck stop on the south side of town, approving the new fiscal year budget, along with a special use permit for a downtown building tops the agenda tonight for city officials in Rochelle.
The council meeting begins at 7 at City Hall.
Loves Travel Stops and Country Store Incorporated wants to build a facility on 17 acres of land south of I-88 at the intersection of Illinois 251 South and Steward Road. City officials will hold a public hearing at 6:45 this evening for the annexation, zoning, and variances for the project before they approve any proposals during the scheduled meeting.
The general fund revenues in the new budget total 9.5 million dollars. That figure is down by around 9 percent from a year ago.
The special use permit is for Kenney Farms Distillery LLC for the installation of a balcony on the front facade where the Hub Theater had been located. The marquee has been removed.
A new price schedule for Lawnridge Cemetery along with the purchase of a new 4X4 full size sports utility vehicle for the fire department are also on the agenda. The SUV will cost just under $36,175 from Sawicki Motors in Rochelle.
City officials will meet in executive session to set a price for the sale or lease of property.
