Emergency Operations Center to open in Rochelle this week

The Emergency Operations Center for Ogle County will be open later this week. Renovation work has been completed in the building along Lincoln Highway in Rochelle.

Long Range and Strategic Planning Chairman Don Griffin of Oregon said the renovation project took longer than expected due to the age of the building. They had to update numerous codes.

Griffin said that there will be a number of new features for the emergency center. This includes new lighting and ventilation along with additional security measures for the building.

Griffin said that he expects the Probation Department along with the Health Department who have offices in Rochelle right now will move into the renovated building some time in November.

A zoning change was approved from residential to a business district for 18 acres of land in the 12,000 block of Flagg Road involving a mobile home park. There will be no expansion of the current area. Water conditions will improve for the park.

In a 17-7 vote, the board approved the hiring of Sikich LLP at a cost of $27,500 for a staffing needs study. Last month, Ogle County officials approved a hiring freeze due to the financial problems in the budget.

Storage and Automation Fees for the Circuit Clerk's office were increased from 10 dollars to 25 dollars. The board met for about 25 minutes in executive session as the discussion included pending or probable litigation. No action was taken.

The Ogle County board will meet in special session on October 30th to talk about the new fiscal year budget
