The Steward Road transmission line project has begun on the south side of Rochelle as the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.
The project is expected to cost just under 2 million dollars.
RMU Electric Superintendent Jason Bird said that the work will be done over a 2 and a half mile area to upgrade the wire size.
Bird was a guest this week on the program "Let The People Know". He talked about the benefits of upgrading the electric system in this area due to possible future businesses that may come to Rochelle.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Good Time Oldies 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6:30 on WRHL and Sunday morning at 6:30 on The Coyote.
Next week's guest will be Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsville.
