A section of Rochelle, which included the downtown area, was left in the dark for around 2 hours last night when a semi-truck damage a utility pole.
The incident took place a short time after 8:30 near the intersection of First Street and 5th Avenue.
Reports indicate that a truck driver from Texas was turning into a driveway east of the intersection. A wire to the utility pole caught a portion of the semi.
The truck pulled the wire as the utility pole broke near the top.
RMU was able to restore electrical power in the city in about 2 hours.
No one was injured from the accident.
