Jeff Fiegenschuh begins his new job as Rochelle city manager today.
The city council approved the hiring of Fiegenschuh (Pronounced Faygen-Shoo) on July 31st along with his employment agreement. The contract is open with a first year salary of $135,000.
The 42-year old Fiegenschuh has been the city administrator in Rantoul, north of Champaign, for the past 3 years. Rantoul has a population of 12,815.
He was also city manager for 4 years in Princetons and city administrator for 2 years in Windsor Heights, Iowa.
Fiegenschuh said he is looking forward to a new challenge in coming to Rochelle.
He does have experience in working with utilities in both Rantoul and Princeton. Fiegenschuh knows that the city has put together 11 strategic goals that he wants to address in the near future. He hopes to have a meeting involving the council and staff within the next 3 to 6 months to refocus on the city's goals.
Fiegenschuh is the 6th city manager for Rochelle since 1995.
