9-year old Alayna Smardo of Steward is the 2017 Little Miss Peanut for the Rochelle Noon Kiwanis and the Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K.
The event was held this evening during the 20th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival. Alayna was 1 of 10 girls between the age of 7 and 10 years old who participated in the contest. She won a $50 savings account certificate along with a $25 Walmart gift card.
The first runner-up was 10-year old Makayla Ludwig of Rochelle. She won a $25 savings account and $20 Walmart gift card.
The second runner-up was 8-year old Elena Daughtery of Rochelle. She takes home a $25 savings account along with a $15 Walmart gift card.
Smardo will represent the Rochelle Kiwanis Club at numerous events during the next year. Their annual "Peanut Day" is set for September 8th.
The Little Miss Peanut contest began in Chicago in 1951.
